The 13th Annual Webby Awards Celebration, held on 8 June at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street, saw the crème de la crème of the Internet world sashaying down the red carpet to find out who won in a staggering 129 categories under four divisions: Web Sites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and Mobile.
Of course, the highlight was watching how the winners limited their acceptance speeches to just five words.
Here is how some goes, in this report from Associated Press:
... Who needs Twitter's 140 characters? Five words were enough for the winners at the 13th annual Webby Awards ceremony, where Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, took the prize for breakout of the year.
Sticking to the Webbys' tradition of acceptance speeches limited to just five words, he said: "Creativity is a renewable resource."
"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane was honoured for his Web series "Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy." Said MacFarlane: "What is this for again?"
Arianna Huffington, whose Huffington Post won for best political blog, said: "I didn't kill newspapers, OK?"
Jimmy Fallon, honoured with a Webby Person of the Year Adwar for using the Internet to flog his taking over NBC's "Late Night", said: "Thank God Conan got promoted."
