All war and no play makes soldiers dull boys. So to liven up their existence in the barren landscape of war-torn Afghanistan a group of American soldiers decided to remake Lady Gaga’s hit song, "Telephone".

While their dancing bore little resemblance to the slick gyrating by Lady Gaga and Beyonce in their risque performance in the promotional video of the same song, the paratroopers obviously had great fun doing it. The video is so popular that the hits (at press time) is near the 4.6 million mark.

The video also makes an Internet star of Sergeant Aaron Melcher, 24, the mastermind behind the video. He introduces the clip on YouTube with the words, “Prepare yourself for a fantastical journey.”

The US army has sanctioned the video being beamed over YouTube, saying it posed no security risk.

Major Michelle Baldanza of the 82nd Airborne Division told AFP that “…the video did not violate our operational security at all”, adding that “the brigade command team is happy to see that they (the paratroopers) also still have a good sense of humour and that morale is high.”

Believe me, the Gaga’s version is hot – sexy babes, male hunks, poison, murder and, of course, a fantastic song. To date it has almost 43 million hits.
