Donald A.R. Birch

Don Birch is President and Chief Executive Officer of Abacus International, Asia’s leading Global Distribution System (GDS).

Don joined Abacus in 2000, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in travel and information technology. After graduating from Trinity College, Cambridge, Don began his career with the Swire Group and Cathay Pacific in 1972. Over the next 25 years, he rose through various key technical, sales, marketing and senior management positions in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan and Taiwan.

In 1997, he returned to Europe and was appointed Vice President with Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques (SITA) in Geneva, Switzerland, where he was focused on improving the internal processes and business systems. This was followed by an exciting, but brief sojourn at a dot-com venture before returning to Asia to join Abacus International.
