John Northen

John Northen’s latest assignment is to open what will be the largest Marriott property in Shanghai. The Renaissance Shanghai Zhongshan Park Hotel will have 700 guestrooms, six restaurants and bars and banquet facilities for up to 2,000 people. The hotel is the flagship for the Renaissance brand in China.

Also Chairman of the Marriott Business Council, Shanghai, the British hotelier was previously general manager of the JW Marriott flagship property in China, the JW Marriott Shanghai

John’s career with Marriott spans 21 years and several continents. He’s worked in England, Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East before he moved to China. Armed with a BA in English literature, he started his career as a management trainee in Sun City Resort, South Africa.
